Originally conceived and publicised by us, back in the late 1980s, 'Charity Gift Tokens' let people buy, and then give, charitable donations as gifts.  Unlike the increasingly popular 'give a goat', 'give some equipment' or 'adopt an animal' promotions run by many large charities, our service has the great benefit of letting the recipient of the gift select a charity of their own choice.  This means that you can give a charity voucher without any worry about choosing a charity that doesn't suit or interest the recipient - instead it involves them in the donation and makes it a really rewarding gift.

Charity gift vouchers are a thoughtful and 'green' gift in that they generate little waste and don't clutter our lives with trivial small gifts that may go unappreciated and unused and which take up valuable resources to manufacture, store and eventually dispose of.  They're also that bit different so you don't have to give yet another bottle of wine, novelty item, scarf or box of chocolates!

And, of course, the point of Charity Vouchers is that they do raise valuable funds for charities, and not just the larger ones that can afford expensive advertising and marketing promotions.  A Charity Voucher can be used to support major national charities or it can redeemed with the smallest, the most specialised or the most local charity... just as the recipient chooses.

For some years the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) ran a service offering 'Charity Gift Vouchers', which were similar to the vouchers we offer, although without the facilities to purchase or redeem vouchers online.   Last year CAF stopped their service, partly because a similar service was being offered elsewhere, and they quoted the 'Charity Vouchers' website as an alternative voucher provider that their regular customers could use in future.

In the United States, Charity Vouchers tend to be sold as 'Charity Gift Cards' and are offered by a variety of organisations, often in a plastic, 'credit-card' sized format.

Who we are

Charity Vouchers is run by Anglia Giving, a non-profit company, Limited by Guarantee, specially established to run the service for the benefit of charities across the UK.  Anglia Giving was set up with funds donated for the purpose and has a board of directors who give their time to the organisation completely free. 

The company isn't a charity itself because it doesn't support any one, specific charitable cause.  However, we keep the running costs of the service and administrative charges to an absolute minimum, as any good charity does.  Furthermore, any surplus funds left after our operating costs have been covered are themselves donated to charities.  For example, since 2008 we have worked with The Citizenship Foundation to support their work with school children across the United Kingdom.  Please click here for more information.

In 2008 we launched e-vouchers, a 'virtual' Charity Voucher and a perfect 'green' gift, because no cards, vouchers and envelopes are used. The image of a voucher is emailed to the buyer for forwarding on to friends or family, with they buyer's own special message attached.  Great for last-minute gifts too, as e-vouchers can be with the recipient on the same day they are ordered! 

In 2012 we have introduced 'Printable Vouchers', where we send out a voucher in a printable format which means that, with a couple of quick folds after printing, the purchaser has a voucher and 'card' all ready to present to someone.  Just like the e-vouchers, these are great for last-minute gifts as they can be handed on to the recipient on the same day they are ordered!  'Printable Vouchers'
